Bit of History to the QV5000 …..
The Countach was the first original Super Car the forefather of those Supercars to come & the last produced Lamborghini that was exclusively Italian was originally initiated by Ferrucio Lamborghini himself with the goal of creating a successor to the Muira. It’s hard to imagine Lamborghini could top the Miura but somehow the team at Sant’ Agata managed to build a super car that was even more outrageous, more spectacular & more, well… Lamborghini than before or after. Even the name says it all, the word Countach translated from PIedmontese being a term of utter astonishment. Styled by the great Marcello Gandini the Countach was wedge defined by sharp lines and angles. The Countach’s party piece are those scissor doors that future generations of V12’s adopted this outrageous lineage just adds to the drama when climbing in or out of this magnificent masterpiece. The Countach body used a skin of aircraft – grade aluminium over a tubular spaceframe chassis as in a race car. Some body parts are made of Kevlar such as the rear Engine Lid, rear boot & front hood the spectacular rear wing is manufactured from aircraft grade aviation aluminium. The V12 is longitudinally mounted behind the driver fed by 6 Weber carburetors. This LP5000 with flared rear wheel archers covering fat 345 /35 ZR 15 Pirellis based on the Formula 1 race cars of that era with the front outfitted with 225 /50 ZR 15’s. Should be noted there are only 14 RHD Webber Down Draft 1986 LP5000 QV5000’s going around in the World with a total of 610 being manufactured back in 1986. In total there were only some 1997 Countach’s were built from 1974 – 1990 in comparison the next generation V12’S there were some 3000 Diablo’s, 4000 Murcielago’s & 11,500 Aventadors. So there is absolutely no doubt the Countach remains the most rarest of the V12’s. This Countach QV5000 in 1986 with a top speed of 300km/h ( 186mph ) making it the fastest car in the world at the time & not too shabby 34 years later in 2024 ! I’ve been the custodian of this masterpiece since 2006 & now it’s time for a new custodian to carry the torch as I’ve had more than my fair share of
extraordinary times & life long memories. The body was stripped back & rebuilt back in 2017 as it was off the road for some 2 years. The interior was totally redone by Peter Blackman in genuine Nappa leather to it’s original factory finishes. Have all the photos to show all the intensive work that was put into this extraordinary machine. I’m often told this Countach should be placed in a Museum to be appreciated by all, but my view its here to be driven, to be enjoyed & it’s history to be respected. In essence it’s now a highly sort after piece of motoring history that only continues to appreciate in value. Serviced by Lamborghini Melbourne the boys there know my car well starting back in 2006 as well as another highly regarded & well know Lamborghini mechanic, I’m more than happy to share all details & full history file will be made available to any genuinely interested party. Mileage a mere 90,000KM next service due at 91,000KM’s. I could go on & write a short story but as they say “ words can’t explain” but a picture tells a thousand words !
Yours Sincerely,
T.George (Current Owner)
